About Us
Robert Zara
founded Zara Law Offices in 1991 to represent small and medium sized foreign
exporters, a long-neglected niche market. Born in Istanbul,
Turkey, and raised there as
well as in Lisbon, Portugal,
Caracas, Venezuela,
and New York, NY. Robert is fluent in English, Turkish,
Spanish, French, and Portuguese. He graduated from the French Lycee of New York
(Baccalaureate), Vassar College (Bachelor of Arts), University
of Maryland (Juris Doctor), and Cambridge University (Master of Laws). Prior to
founding Zara Law Offices, Robert was an associate at Hawkins, Delafield &
Wood, a prestigious Wall Street Law Firm that represents public issuers of
municipal debt.
After sixteen years, several court trials, and hundreds of
satisfied clients, much has changed at Zara Law Offices: Alcohol Beverage
Control, Trademark Registration, and FDA Regulation have been added to the Firm's
practice areas. Several prominent Turkish Exporters and Spanish wineries have
joined us as clients. A full complement of talented local and foreign lawyers
has enabled us to grow to represent domestic business entities, and well-heeled
individuals from all over the world on their commercial endeavors in the United States.
In 2002, Robert Zara co-founded the Turkish American Chamber of Commerce & Industry (TACCI). Robert is also a former board member of the Asociacion de Empresarios y Profesionales USA-Spain (AEP), and of the Turkish-American Business Forum, Inc.
Robert is also a frequent speaker at overseas conferences
where he advises foreign businesses on matters as varied as Getting Paid when Exporting to the USA,
the Perils of Non-Compliance with the
Anti-Dumping Statutes or the FDA's
Present Framework on the Importation of
Foodstuffs into the United States.
Some things however have not changed: Each matter, small or
big still gets our full and undivided attention. At Zara Law Offices, we speak
your language and understand your business.
